Baby Flathead
Baby Ct Scan for flathead syndrome, helmet?
I have an appointment for my 4 month old to get a cat scan due to his BAD flathead syndrome.. From that point, I really think he will need to wear a helmet to fix the problem.. how long after the cat scan is it before he gets the actual helmet? I really just want to get the treatment started as soon as possible.
The CT scan is to rule out Craniostynosis...which is when the plates in the head fuse together too fast. If that isn't the case with your son, then he will be fitted with either a plaster mold or computer scanner(depends on the company you are using). You'll have the helmet within a week to 10 days after he get's his head molded. Don't worry, 4 months is plenty of time to correct this problem. It only gets urgent when the child is older than 8 or 9 months. Hope this helps!
