How do I get mildew out of my bass-boat carpet ?
When I uncovered my bass-boat, The gray carpeting had many green
places on it. I assume it is mildew. I'd like to know what it the best method of cleaning.
Mold and mildew thrive in dark damp places so boats are a prime location for it to set up camp. While bleach is usually one of the best ways to remove mold and mildew, you don't want to use bl;each on a dyed fabric. The much safer and equally effective alternative is vinegar.Here's what you do:
Sweep away as much of the mold as possible. Scrape it away if you can and vacuum it up. (Get it out of the boat!)
Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle and saturate the green spots.
Let them soak for awhile. About 15 minutes should do.
Rinse it with clean water and blot it up.
Allow it to dry. Sunshine is also awesome for getting rid of mold!
