Can you join just about any outboard motor to a boat until it is too much power?
The bolts that secure the boat's engine still in the same place? The connectors for gas, fuel, and the direction nearly universal? That boats on very old (eg, 60's and 70's)? I'm browsing on Craigslist Postings for boats and outboard motors. I asked this question but not really a good answer to my question.
You can not attach any engine to any boat. You need look at the plate factory building capacity. Info on this plate will be the outboard motor max HP the boat can safely handle. Then there is the length of the output shaft too. Many old boats of the 60 treated and 70 to 50 HP in most cases, but you'll need to check before purchasing a motor. On most modern ships of connections, your connections to certain brands if equipped with gauges dash, connections electric throttle controls and sensors. Control cables are fairly universal basic configurations for smaller engine, but no big engines. Most boats have a center mounting location for the engine to the hull of the single motor.
