How much backing is needed for my fly reel?
I bought a new fly reel and am not sure how much line and backing i need to put on it. It says it has 85m capacity but dont know how much of this should be used on backing and line. http://fly.greysfishing.com/en-gb/products/reels/reels/grxi-reel/ thats the link and its the wf6 model if that helps. I will be fishing for trout that wont be over 4 pounds max so im not sure if that helps, and i will be using floating line. Pre thanks
For your application, not much backing is needed. 25-50 yds max. Mainly the reason you would be using it would be to prevent ruining your fly line by it getting too much memory from being directly on the spool. Nice reel by the way!
