I want to transfer my reel to reel recordings to cd, how do I do it.?
I have a Stellaphone 4 track reel to reel tape recorder which is working but would like to preserve the recordings I have. Can I transfer them onto my computer to burn off onto a cd. If it is possible in simple terms can anyone tell me how to do it please.
You have a couple of simple options.
1. Get a cable that will connect the tape recorder to the audio in jack on your computer's sound card.
2. Buy an analogue to digital external sound card that connects via USB and a cable to connect the tape recorder to it. This is the better quality option.
The Edirol UA-25 and Alesis iO/2 are reasonably priced sound cards.
You will also need some software to record with. This programme should do the job for free http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html.
