Used Saltwater Fishing Tackle

I am a very inexperienced fisherman that my father I never learned to fish, I'm 16 and ive been trying to learn. So I go fishing in the river of feathers for plotter time to time, and I never caught a fish. One problem I have is the line continues to go ashore since I'm from fishing away. I was wondering how I can keep my line in the middle of the stream, without hanging. Thank you!
