what is the correct way to hold an ice hockey stick?
I have heard that the dominant hand goes on top, less dominant goes on bottom. I want to hold it the proper way though. I need some opinions on what other people do. THanks
It depends on what you mean by ''dominant hand'' because it can be tricky. I'm a right-handed in general, and in hockey, as a player, I shoot right as well. Consequently, my dominant hand (right since I'm righty) is usually at the first 1/3 starting from the top for puck-handling, and my left hand goes at the top (butt end) of the shaft. However, some right-handed people shoot left in hockey. If you're lefty (shoot left), your right hand will go at the top and the left hand would be at the bottom. You have to find with handiness you're most comfortable with regardless of your handiness in general. But people above are right, when you take a slap shot you normally lower your bottom hand.
